Gym-Based Physiotherapy
Gym-based physiotherapy at IP Physio is rehabilitation delivered in a fully equipped gym environment by chartered physiotherapist Ilias Paschopoulos at our Soho, Marylebone, Canary Wharf and Notting Hill Gate clinics in London, bridging the gap between being pain-free on a plinth and being ready for real-world loads.
The gap standard physiotherapy leaves
Conventional physiotherapy tends to end when pain settles. You are discharged with a home programme and left to manage the transition back to sport, work or full training yourself. For many people that is where things unravel, not because the clinical treatment failed, but because nobody bridged the distance between comfortable in clinic and robust under real load.
Band work and bodyweight exercise restore basic function. They do not build the capacity needed to squat, deadlift, sprint, change direction, carry a toddler up stairs or absorb a bad landing. That capacity requires loads that only a gym can supply, applied progressively and supervised by someone who knows both the injury and the lift.
How sessions run
Sessions take place in a full gym setting with barbells, dumbbells, machines, plyometric equipment and force plates. We coach technique directly, load appropriately, and progress you week to week against measured criteria rather than perceived effort.
Typical use cases: the late stage of post-surgical rehabilitation, returning to lifting after a back or shoulder injury, an athlete moving from rehabilitation into performance, and lifters whose technique or programming is driving recurring injury.
It also suits people who want to train but are nervous about hurting themselves again. Doing the movement well, under supervision, with load that is deliberately controlled, is usually what resolves that fear.
Our objective-data approach
Dynamometry and ForceDecks establish where you actually are on entry, so the starting load is based on measured capacity rather than on how long ago the injury happened.
Force plate retesting through the programme shows whether power, reactive strength and limb symmetry are improving in the way the gym work should produce, and flags when a plateau needs a change of stimulus.
Session-by-session load tracking, weight, sets, reps and tolerance, gives an objective record that makes progression decisions transparent and prevents the drift into under-dosed rehabilitation.
